FOHO Fees
On Thursdays, 10am-2pm, I give massage at the Forrestal Occupational Health Organization gym at the U.S. Department of Energy. It's available to federal employees and to all DOE employees.
One-hour session = $70
1/2-hour session = $35
If you are a federal employee but not at DOE, I must arrange in advance to put you on the visitor list. Additionally, there is a $5.00 fee for non-gym members. Email me for an appointment.
Gift Certificates
A Breath Is Health gift certificate makes an excellent birthday, anniversary, or thank-you gift. Certificates can be applied to either yoga or massage, or a combination session.
Currently gift certificates are not available online, but they can be easily mailed or emailed to your address or to the recipient's address.
To request a gift certificate, email your name, the occasion of the gift, the name of the person receiving the gift, and any comment or message to the recipient that you would like to include on the certificate (e.g., "have a happy birthday"). Please provide the correct recipient address and clarify whether you want it emailed or mailed via USPS.
Payments for gift certificate purchases can be mailed to me once I have processed your electronic request. You will receive a PDF copy of the certificate for your records, as well as the payment mailing address.
Thanks!
Policies
Scheduling
You may schedule an appointment by phone (202.431.3577) or email.
Cancellation
Please give me as much notice as possible if you decide to cancel or reschedule your appointment. I do impose a “1/2 payment” policy for less than 24 hours’ notice of cancellation. If you cancel less than 24 hours before your appointment, I will request payment of half of the missed session at your next appointment (so if your session = $85, then I’d request payment of $42.50).
Discounts
If you are over age 65 or a part-time or full-time student, you can receive a 10% discount upon request on all bodywork. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please talk to me before assuming no bodywork is available to you.
Payment
Currently I accept only cash, check, or money order. Please pay at time of service.
Tipping
In my own studio, the rate I charge per session is what I expect to be paid. Tips are certainly generous but not accepted. I consider massage therapy and yoga to be complementary health care services, and it is not common to tip one's health care providers. I do accept tips at the FOHO, where part of the client's fee is intended to meet contractual obligations with the FOHO facility. (FOHO massage appointments are also $15 less than my studio rate.)
Attire
For combination yoga-massage sessions, non-binding clothing is appropriate. Clients coming for massage therapy only are asked to undress to their level of comfort before they get on the table. For massage, feel free to undress completely.
Etiquette
If you are late to an appointment, I am not able to make up that time, so you will be provided an abbreviated session based on your needs. Please try to arrive no more than 5 minutes early for your session, as I do need some time between client sessions to prepare for each one.
